Foundation: Galactic Frontier is a 4X sci-fi strategy game that I've had my eye on since it first launched back in 2018. It keeps the exploration phase tense and exciting, even hours into a session.

If you've played other games in this genre like Stellaris (which is the king on PC) or even something like Age of Wonders: Planetfall, you'll find a lot of familiar mechanics here, but Foundation: Galactic Frontier is more streamlined for the mobile experience. Unlike Stellaris, which can feel overwhelming with its real-time depth, this game respects your time and is perfectly suited for a quick check-in on Google Play. It's not trying to be a hardcore PC simulation; instead, it's the perfect casual-but-deep strategy app to have on your phone. It's more forgiving than the aforementioned titles, letting you make mistakes without losing your entire empire, which is a huge plus. For that reason, it's the first thing I recommend to friends who want a grand strategy fix but don't have two hours to sink into a single session. It scratches that itch without the heavy hardware requirement, and honestly, the tactile feel of managing your empire on a touchscreen is surprisingly satisfying.
