Scarlet Skips is a mobile puzzle game that falls squarely into the tile-matching category, though it adds a few twists that keep things from feeling like a total clone. It is developed by ALPHA ORGANIC (PRIVATE) LIMITED and is available on Android through the Google Play Store. I have not seen it on Steam, Xbox, Switch, or any other console or PC storefront, so if you want to play this one, you will need an Android device. The game first launched in 2023, and as far as I can tell, it has somewhere between 100,000 and 500,000 installs, which is modest but not tiny. You can download and install it for free, and the app does include in-game purchases. Those purchases are mostly for removing ads or grabbing extra hints, and they typically range from around $1.99 to $9.99. There are also rewarded ads if you want to avoid paying, which is a fair trade-off in my book.

Playing Scarlet Skips is simple to pick up but tricky to master. You tap on groups of matching tiles to clear them, and the goal is to clear the board before you run out of moves. The best part is the combo system, where chaining bigger groups gives you score multipliers and satisfying visual pops. My favorite part of playing this game is the short-burst format. I can open the app, play three or four levels on the bus, and feel like I actually made progress. The levels are not timed, which keeps the experience relaxing rather than stressful. There are also daily challenges that give you bonus coins, and those kept me coming back for a couple of weeks straight. The difficulty curve ramps up nicely, so you never feel stuck on one stage for too long, but you also do not breeze through everything in one sitting.

Compared to similar games like Candy Crush Saga or Toon Blast, Scarlet Skips feels less pushy with its monetization. I have played both of those, and they constantly nag you to buy boosters or wait for lives to refill. Scarlet Skips still has ads, but they are not as aggressive, and the level design feels more forgiving in the early stages. Another similar title is Puzzle Page, but that one is more of a mini-game collection. I recommend Scarlet Skips over those because it respects your time a bit more. The app is lightweight, it does not drain my battery too fast, and the download was quick. If you like tile-matching games but are tired of the same old formula, this one is worth a shot. It is not perfect, but as a free Android game, it does the job well.

features

  • Relaxing pace 🧘: Unlike many match-3 games that pressure you with timers, Scarlet Skips lets you think through each move without a clock ticking down. That makes it great for winding down before bed or during a lunch break.
  • Generous daily rewards 🎁: You get login bonuses and daily challenge coins that actually help you progress. In Candy Crush Saga, I often felt like I had to pay to keep going, but here the freebies are enough to keep the momentum.
  • Simple controls 👆: Just tap and drag. No complicated gestures or tutorials that drag on for ten minutes. You can install the app and be playing within seconds.
  • Offline play 📴: I tested it on a flight with airplane mode on, and it worked fine. That is a big plus compared to Toon Blast, which often requires a connection for events.

pros

  • Fair monetization 💰: Compared to Candy Crush Saga, Scarlet Skips gives you more free hints and fewer forced ad breaks. You can watch an ad voluntarily for a bonus, which feels like a choice rather than a punishment.
  • Quick level length ⏱️: Each stage takes about one to two minutes, so you can play a few rounds without getting sucked into a marathon session. That beats Puzzle Page, where some puzzles drag on for ages.
  • Clean interface ✨: The menus are not cluttered with flashing banners or pop-ups. It is a breath of fresh air next to other Android puzzle games that shove event notifications in your face every time you open the app.
  • Steady updates 🔄: The developer pushes new levels and fixes fairly often. I have not hit a dead end yet, and that says something for a smaller studio.

cons

  • Repetitive later levels 🥱: After level 100 or so, the objectives start to feel samey. Toon Blast does a better job of mixing in new mechanics to keep things fresh.
  • No cloud save ☁️: If you switch phones or reinstall the app, you lose your progress. That is a real bummer compared to Candy Crush Saga, which syncs across devices.
  • Ads still pop up 📺: Even though they are less aggressive than some competitors, the banner ads at the bottom of the screen can be distracting during puzzle solving. Paying to remove them helps, but it is an extra cost.
  • Limited social features 👥: There is no way to send lives or compete with friends, which makes it feel more solitary than other games in the genre. That is fine for solo play, but not great if you like community challenges.
